Following Larijani Iran unveils new National Security Council Secretary

Khaberni  - ‏The Iranian presidency announced the appointment of Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr as the Secretary of the National Security Council, succeeding Ali Larijani, who was killed in attacks by the United States and Israel.

The Iranian President's Assistant for Communication and Media, Mehdi Tabatabai, wrote on the platform "X": "Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr, with the approval of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and by the decree of the President, was appointed as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council".

Who is Zolghadr:

Lieutenant General Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr served as the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Guards for 8 years (during the presidency of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani) after the end of the war with Iraq, and later, for another 8 years, served as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards at the time. After the war, he continued his studies until he obtained a PhD in Strategic Management from the National Defense University.

In 2005, in the ninth government, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Interior and Security and Police Assistant for that ministry. The Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Interior announced it.

Following the resignation of Mohsen Rezaei from the secretaryship of the Expediency Discernment Council, the head of the Expediency Discernment Council issued a decree appointing Mohammad Baqer Zolghadr as the secretary of this council.

Larijani was killed along with his son Morteza, one of his aides, and several of his companions in Israeli airstrikes targeting his daughter's home in the Bardis area northeast of Tehran at dawn last Tuesday, while Iran officially announced his death at the age of 67 on Wednesday night.
