Diversion of Israeli Flights to Aqaba and Taba

Khaberni - Channel 12 (Israeli), reported on behalf of the Israeli "Arkia" company that it will transfer the activity of long flights to the airports of Aqaba and Taba in Jordan and Egypt.

According to the Hebrew media, after limiting the number of passengers to 50 per flight from Ben Gurion Airport, the Israeli company Arkia announces that it cannot conduct regular activity and will divert most of its flights to Aqaba and Taba, where only minimal activity will be maintained for humanitarian destinations.

Following the decision by the Israeli Ministry of Transportation to limit the number of departing passengers from Ben Gurion Airport to only 50 per flight, Arkia company announced today (Monday) that the new plan does not allow the conduct of regular aviation activity, which it says effectively closes the skies of Occupied Palestine.

As of today, the flight schedule will operate as planned, including the direct flight to New York, which will take off at 13:15. However, Arkia is preparing for a significant change in its activities: Most international flights will be moved to Aqaba and Taba airports, as happened at the beginning of the war.

Within the new plan, flights will operate to central destinations, including New York, Bangkok, and Hanoi, at full capacity from Aqaba Airport. An updated flight schedule is expected to be published later.

Simultaneously, the company will continue to operate limited activity from Ben Gurion Airport, which will primarily include flights to Larnaca and Athens, designated for humanitarian needs.

At Arkia, it is confirmed that the current restrictions do not allow normal operation, and the company will not be able to choose among passengers who have already purchased tickets. The statement read, "It is an unworkable situation and does not align with the company's values."

The General Manager of Arkia, Oz Berlovitch, stated: "According to the current plan, we cannot conduct regular aviation activity, which practically means closing the skies of Occupied Palestine, we are operating according to instructions, but we are preparing to transfer most of the activity to Aqaba and Taba to maintain the continuity of aviation as much as possible."
