Iran Threatens Reciprocal Response If Its Power Stations Are Targeted

Khaberni - The Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated in a statement on Monday that Iran would respond to any attack targeting its electricity sector by targeting Israeli power generating stations, as well as those supplying American bases with electricity in regional countries.

The statement seemingly retreated from previous threats to desalination plants in the region, which are crucial for providing drinking water in the Gulf states.

The statement, published by Iranian state media, claimed "The American president alleged that the Revolutionary Guards plan to attack water desalination stations and inflict harm on the peoples of the region."

President Donald Trump threatened on Saturday to target Iranian power stations if Tehran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz to all ships within 48 hours.

The Revolutionary Guards said "We are determined to respond to any threat at the same level of deterrence... If you bomb our electricity networks, we will bomb yours.”

The war in Iran broke out on February 28, following extensive airstrikes by the United States and Israel as part of the operations "Epic Fury" and "Lion's Roar," targeting vital and military facilities and command centers in Tehran and several other cities, resulting in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day, along with a number of senior officials and leaders, including the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani, and prominent Revolutionary Guard commanders.

In response, Iran executed "True Promise 4," launching hundreds of missiles and drones towards Israel and countries in the region, along with closing the Strait of Hormuz, causing a spike in energy prices.

The war extended to Lebanon on March 2, after Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel following the assassination of Ali Khamenei, to which Israel responded with widespread air raids and a ground incursion into southern Lebanon.
