Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Health issued a statement on the implications of the explosion that caused a fire in a shopping center in the city of New Damietta.
The Ministry confirmed that the ambulance authority deployed 16 equipped ambulances to the fire site immediately upon receiving the report, where the injured were immediately treated. The number of those injured reached 32, who were transported to the provincial hospitals and treated according to the highest medical care standards, with specialized medical teams and nursing staff available around the clock.
The Ministry explained that the incident resulted in 3 fatalities and noted that the injuries ranged from bruises, abrasions, superficial wounds, to minor fractures. The health condition of the majority of the injured is stable, as 18 patients have already left the hospitals after their health improved and they received necessary treatment. The remaining cases are still receiving the necessary care under meticulous medical observation until they fully recover.
In this context, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar continues to monitor the health developments of the injured continuously, with directives to raise the readiness level in all nearby hospitals and to provide any additional medical or therapeutic needs immediately.
The fire resulted from an explosion of a helium gas cylinder, used by one of the shops for inflating advertising balloons.
The security forces arrested the owner of the mentioned shop "the user of the cylinder" and took legal actions.
