Khaberni - Princess Mette-Marit, the wife of the Norwegian Crown Prince, apologizes for her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the late businessman convicted of sex crimes.
With her apology, observers believe the Princess is attempting to contain one of the biggest scandals that has hit the Norwegian royal family.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s release of millions of documents related to Epstein has shocked the world, revealing Epstein’s connections with prominent figures in Norway, including the Crown Prince’s wife, senior politicians, businessmen, and diplomats.
«He deceived me»
Mette-Marit said in a tear-filled interview with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation aired this morning, "I was manipulated and deceived."
She added about Epstein, "Of course, I wish I had never met him."
The files showed repeated communications between Mette-Marit and Epstein, long after he pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting a minor.
No criminal charges have been made against the Norwegian princess (aged 52) who apologized to King Harald and Queen Sonia in a statement issued on February 6th.
Although previous media coverage indicated that Mette-Marit had ties with Epstein, the new documents revealed a broader relationship, prompting the Prime Minister to issue an unusual rebuke and demand a full explanation.
The American files showed that the Crown Prince's wife, Princess Mette-Marit, continued to contact Epstein from 2011 to 2014, and stayed at his Palm Beach home for four days during a private trip in 2013.
