Jordan Meteorological Varied intensity rain and warning of flash floods

Khaberni - Weather radar images from the Meteorological Administration indicate rainfalls of varying intensities in different areas of Jordan, ranging from moderate to heavy, with the continued effect of the weather condition on the kingdom.

The Meteorological Administration warned of the danger of flash floods forming in valleys and low-lying areas, urging citizens to stay away from flood routes and take necessary precautions.

On Wednesday, temperatures recorded were higher than the general averages for this time of the year by about (8-9) degrees Celsius, with relatively warm weather prevailing and clouds appearing at medium and high altitudes.

By noon, the kingdom will experience an unstable weather condition, where clouds will gradually increase to become partly cloudy to cloudy, and showers of rain will start from the southern regions, including Aqaba, and later extend to several areas, including the capital, Amman.

The rain is expected to be heavy at times, especially during the evening and night hours, accompanied by thunder and hail, which may lead to the formation of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea and Aqaba. Additionally, southeastern winds will be active with strong gusts at times, causing dust to rise and reducing horizontal visibility, especially in the desert areas.

On Thursday, Jordan will be affected by a relatively cold and humid air mass accompanying a low-pressure system, where temperatures will noticeably drop, and the weather will be relatively cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, with intermittent rain in the western parts, especially the northern and central regions, sometimes extending to the eastern areas, accompanied by thunder and hail. The western winds will also be active with strong gusts that may exceed 50 km/h, raising dust in the desert areas.

On Friday, a slight additional drop in temperatures will occur, with the weather remaining cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, and rain falling in the north, center, and parts of the eastern and southwestern regions, occasionally accompanied by thunder, especially in the north, with active western winds.

The weather will continue to be cold and partly cloudy to cloudy over the following days, with rain falling intermittently in most areas, sometimes heavy, especially in the western parts, accompanied by thunder and hail, with active southwesterly to westerly winds.
