Khaberni - The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, announced on Wednesday that the member states are discussing the "best way" to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Rutte said in a press conference during a visit to NATO exercises in northern Norway, "I am in contact with many allies. We all agree, of course, on the need to reopen the strait. What I know is that the allies are working together, discussing how to do it, and what the best way is."
He added, "They are discussing it collectively, to find a way forward."
US President Donald Trump urged his allies to send warships to escort oil tankers through the nearly completely closed Strait of Hormuz by Iran since the start of the US-Israeli war against it.
But this call was not well received, and key alliance states confirmed that NATO is not concerned with this war.
This caused displeasure to the American president who said on Tuesday that his country no longer needs help to secure the strait, but he criticized the NATO countries for making a "stupid mistake" by not participating.
Trump had also previously warned of a very bad future for the alliance if it does not respond to his demand to secure the strait.
