Khaberni - Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Israeli targeting of facilities associated with the South Pars gas field in Iran.
Today, Wednesday, an advisor to the Prime Minister and the official spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Mohammed Al-Ansari, warned that this targeting represents a dangerous and irresponsible step amidst the current military escalation in the region.
He emphasized that targeting energy infrastructure, particularly the “South Pars” field which is the natural extension of the North Field in Qatar, poses a serious threat not only to global energy security but also to the people and environment of the region.
Doha reiterated its position calling for the avoidance of targeting vital facilities, urging all parties to exercise restraint, comply with international law, and work to stop the military escalation in the region.
Earlier today, Israel conducted a widespread missile strike targeting vital Iranian energy facilities in coordination with the United States, which damaged refineries at the “South Pars” gas field in the Asaluyeh area in the south of the country, according to the Iranian news agency “Fars”.
It is noted that the Iranian “South Pars” field forms the natural extension of the Qatari “North” field, making them together the largest natural gas field in the world with 17% of the global gas reserves.
