Hundreds of Israelis Spend the Night in Stations and Tunnels Fleeing Iranian Rockets

Khaberni - Hundreds from Tel Aviv are compelled to spend the night in underground tram and train stations for two weeks, escaping the continuous Iranian missile shelling on Israel.
According to a "RIA Novosti" agency correspondent, hundreds of people arrive daily at one of the underground tram stations in the evening, bringing along mattresses, blankets, and supplies of water and food. Among them are those who bring their children and pets, seeking a safe place to protect their families from the missile threat.

These residents, whose apartments lack reinforced rooms, are using public shelters prepared in underground car parks or facilities of government institutions. The sirens in Tel Aviv sound between five to seven times a day, intensifying with Iran's missile attacks during the night in recent days.

Iran began its shelling of Israel on February 28 last year, in retaliation for an attack that targeted a girls' school in southern Iran, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The permanent representative of Iran to the United Nations, Amir Said Iravani, announced that the number of civilian casualties exceeded 1,300 killed and more than 17,000 injured.

On the Israeli side, Iranian bombing has resulted in 12 deaths and hundreds of injuries, with several rockets hitting civilian neighborhoods in the city of Tel Aviv. Rocket fragments frequently fall in the city and other cities due to interceptions by air defenses.

The reinforced rooms in Israeli homes, known as "Mamads," are designed to withstand short and medium-range missiles formerly possessed by factions like "Hamas" in Gaza and "Hezbollah" in Lebanon. However, these rooms are not available in all apartments, nor are they equipped to withstand heavy Iranian ballistic missiles, prompting many residents to descend to underground shelters when they hear the sirens.

Washington and Tel Aviv justified the start of their military operations with a preemptive strike targeting threats from the Iranian nuclear program. However, officials in both have no longer been concealing their pursuit of regime change in Iran.
