Frankfurt Duo Approaches Representing the Moroccan National Team Before World Cup 2026

Khaberni  - German press reports indicated that the Eintracht Frankfurt duo, Younes Ben Talib and Ayoub Maimouni, are slated to receive their first call-up to the Moroccan national football team, potentially paving their way to participate in the 2026 World Cup.

"Get German Football News" mentioned, quoting Bild newspaper, that the new coach of the Moroccan national team, Mohamed Wahbi, included the players in the preliminary list for the national team’s camp during the upcoming international break.

The site added that this anticipated call-up represents an important step in the players' careers and an opportunity to enhance their chances of being part of the Moroccan national team in future events.

Possibility of Representing More Than One National Team

The players were born outside Morocco; Ben Talib was born in Frankfurt, while Maimouni was born in Spain, but they are both eligible to represent Morocco thanks to their family origins.

Despite the potential call-up, Ben Talib is still able to represent the German national football team, as the international games in March are only friendly matches.

The Moroccan national team is expected to face both the Ecuadorian and Paraguayan national football teams in the last international camp before the World Cup.

Players’ Statistics This Season

The players joined Frankfurt during the winter transfer period.

Ben Talib (22 years old) transferred from Elversberg for 8 million euros, after he scored 12 goals in 17 matches with his previous team. He played two matches with Frankfurt and scored a goal in his first appearance before an injury temporarily sidelined him.

Maimouni, on the other hand, joined from the reserves of Hoffenheim for 200,000 euros. During his participation in the German third division, he scored 9 goals and provided 6 crucial assists in 18 matches. Since moving to the German league, he has played 9 matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
