Hassan discusses with shipping companies to enhance supply chains

Khaberni - Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan met on Sunday at the Prime Minister's Office, with representatives of international shipping, freight, and logistics companies, to discuss the reality of supply and delivery chains and ways to reduce the costs of transportation and shipping amid the developments in the region and their reflections on the movement of trade and supplies.

Prime Minister highlighted the important role played by the international shipping, freight, and logistics companies in ensuring the flow of goods and enhancing the kingdom's ability to cope with any challenges that may arise in the supply chains, emphasizing the government's commitment to work in coordination with the private sector and take the necessary measures to ensure the enhancement of the strategic stockpile of basic goods and energy sustainably and adequately.

The Prime Minister mentioned the decisions recently taken by the government in this regard, which are part of a proactive approach to dealing with regional challenges and ensuring the provision of goods and energy sustainably and adequately.

On their part, representatives of the international shipping, freight, and logistics companies highlighted the importance of the decisions made by the government regarding facilitating road transport and exemptions related to the costs of maritime shipping, noting that these decisions have a direct and significant impact on speeding up the arrival of goods and enhancing the efficiency and diversification of supply and delivery chains in the kingdom.

The meeting comes as part of the actions taken by the cabinet last week to deal with the repercussions of the regional situation which included temporarily allowing the import of containerized goods through land border crossings, in addition to exemptions related to the increase in maritime shipping costs, and measures to ensure the sustainability of supply and delivery to enhance the strategic stockpile of basic goods and energy.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Labor Nadal Qatamin, Government Communication Mohammad Al-Momani, Industry, Trade, and Supply Yaarub Al-Qudah, and the Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mohannad Shehadeh.
