Jordan Joins the Artemis Accords Concerned with Cooperation in Space Exploration

Khaberni - Jordan joined, on Thursday, the Artemis Accords, which are concerned with cooperation in space exploration, thus becoming the sixty-third nation to join these accords.

The Kingdom's ambassador in Washington, Dina Kawar, signed the accession agreement at the headquarters of the American space agency (NASA), in the presence of the agency's director and representatives from the U.S. Department of State.

The accession to the accords is part of the Kingdom's commitment to expanding the horizons of international cooperation in scientific fields for space exploration, benefiting from research and studies in this area, enhancing the Kingdom’s capabilities in technology and artificial intelligence fields, and strengthening scientific and technical partnerships with friendly nations.

The Artemis Accords, launched in 2020, establish an international framework that governs scientific cooperation in space exploration through principles including the peaceful use, availability and exchange of scientific data, and the preservation of sites and assets of historical significance by developing best practices in space exploration that serve the interests of states and the international community.
