Klopp Dismisses Second Coach in a Week

Khaberni  - The German, Jurgen Klopp, head of global football at the Red Bull group and former Liverpool coach, dismissed two coaches within a single week.

Klopp (58) decisively addressed the poor results being achieved by Paris FC in the French league, and immediately decided to dismiss his coach, Stefan Gelly, who is the latest of his victims, due to poor results.

Klopp's decision came despite his recent strong support for Gelly. In a recent interview, the German confirmed his faith in the project and the man leading it, at a time when pressure was mounting on the Paris FC coach who had not won any of the last 5 matches in Ligue 1.

However, with the club, currently fifteenth in the league table with 23 points and 6 points clear of the relegation zone, hoping to stay in the top division, Klopp was forced to take this decision and appoint Antoine Kombouaré in his place.

The club issued an official statement, which stated: "Paris FC announces the end of its cooperation with Stefan Gelly as the head coach of the first team effective from 22 February 2026."

It added: "Since he took up the role of technical director in 2023, Stefan has had a significant impact on the club. Over two seasons, he contributed to many successes, crowned with our return to the first division, a remarkable achievement in the club's recent history," which was achieved nearly half a century after its absence.

The club extended its sincere thanks to Stefan Gelly for his commitment, professionalism, and all the work he accomplished during his tenure at Paris FC.

Gelly's dismissal is the second coaching change within a week for teams owned by the Red Bull company, as Klopp had earlier in the week dismissed Thomas Leitgeb, the coach of Red Bull Salzburg who had been in his position for more than a year.

Klopp began his new role in January 2025 with a four-year contract, making major strategic and football decisions including the appointment of coaches, "and it seems he did not waste much time asserting his authority and proving his presence," according to the British newspaper The Sun.
