Khaberni - Two months before the World Cup kicks off, Carlo Ancelotti has left the door open for Neymar's return, but he cautioned that he must be in full fitness to join the Brazilian team.
Neymar has not worn the Brazilian team jersey for about two and a half years, specifically since that sad night on October 18, 2023, when he suffered a severe injury to his left knee during a match against Uruguay.
Since returning to his home club, Santos, at the beginning of 2025, Brazil's all-time leading scorer (79 goals) has been battling against time to regain his brilliance, believing in his ability to lead his country in the upcoming World Cup starting on June 11.
Ancelotti clarified today, Saturday, in an interview with France Football magazine: "He is a great talent, and naturally, people believe he can help us win the next World Cup. He is currently under assessment by the Brazilian Football Confederation, and by myself personally, and he still has two months to prove his worthiness to play in the upcoming World Cup."
The Italian coach confirmed, "I will call up players who are physically ready. After his knee injury (in December/December), Neymar came back strongly, and he is scoring goals. He needs to continue in this manner and improve his physical fitness. He is on the right track."
Apart from World Cup calculations, speculation about Neymar's professional future is increasing. After being ruled out of the recent friendlies against France and England, American media reports suggest the possibility of him leaving Santos soon, indicating ongoing discussions between the striker's entourage and the Cincinnati team in the American soccer league for a move in 2027.
