Rare Diagnosis After Incorrect Treatment Jordanian Doctor Recounts a Womans Rescue Journey

Khaberni - Dr. Hussam Abu Farsakh, a consultant in histopathological and clinical diagnostics and biopsy and an American board-certified, details a complex medical case of a 54-year-old woman who he managed to diagnose accurately after she received two months of incorrect treatment for presumed lymph gland tuberculosis.

Abu Farsakh explained that the patient consulted him four years ago suffering from severe fatigue. After performing precise examinations and taking samples from the lymph glands in her neck and subjecting them to special immunohistochemical stains (IHC), it was concluded that she was suffering from a type of aggressive lymphoma (ALL), which led to the correction of her treatment path and saved her life from continuing with inappropriate treatment.

He noted that the treatment journey was not easy, as the patient encountered a severe coronavirus infection during her chemotherapy due to her weakened immune system. Additionally, a cancerous tumor was discovered in her left kidney, which required surgical removal.

He referred to the later stage of treatment, where she underwent a bone marrow transplant, describing it as the most difficult phase, during which she went through extremely critical times before successfully overcoming them.

The doctor emphasized that continuous medical follow-up and psychological support for the family were parts of the treatment process, pointing out that the patient has now returned after four years and is completely recovered, in a state that reflects the importance of accurate diagnosis and early medical intervention in saving lives.
