Food and Drug Administration Closure of 6 butcher shops in an extensive control campaign

Khaberni - As part of an extensive control campaign targeting butcher shops, carried out by the specialized inspection and control staff of the Food and Drug General Corporation in cooperation with the relevant security apparatuses, on Wednesday, the corporation closed 6 butcher shops in the Al-Mahatta area.

 The corporation explained in a press statement that the closures were due to the monitoring of negative practices including; displaying meats and offal on the public sidewalk, non-compliance with the requirements and conditions for meat preservation and display, cleaness standards, and not keeping the meats in cooling units separate from offal and interiors, besides the detection of expired liver.

 The corporation added that its staff destroyed approximately 1500 kilograms of the seized materials, in presence of representatives of the relevant security authorities, and emphasizes that its monitoring campaigns continue to ensure compliance with health standards.
