Khaberni - The Al Ain Court for Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Claims ruled that two young men must pay a man an amount of 15,900 AED, which they had obtained after deceiving him into believing they were capable of issuing a residence permit in the country for one of his friends. The court also ruled that they must compensate him with 1,000 AED for the damages he suffered.
A man filed a lawsuit against two young men, demanding that they return the amount of 15,900 AED, and that they pay him compensation for material damage amounting to 5,000 AED, as well as cover the fees and expenses. He indicated that they had deceived him by claiming to work in the field of issuing residence permits within the country, and by their ability to obtain a legal residence for one of his friends. They asked him for a financial amount for this service, so he transferred the claim amount to their accounts according to the agreement. However, after receiving the money, they refrained from issuing any residence permit or providing proof of the initiation of procedures. The court confirmed,
During the hearing of the lawsuit, it was established that the defendants had unjustifiably delayed the payment of the amount, which constitutes a faltering in fulfillment, resulting in the claimant's damage due to being deprived of collecting his dues and hindering his ability to manage his money. In addition, the legal pursuit of the defendants cost him expenses, time, and effort that should have been avoided. There was a causal relationship between the fault and the damage, thus making the claimant justified in his request, and the court ruled that the first defendant must pay the claimant an amount of 5,400 AED, and the second defendant must pay the claimant an amount of 9,450 AED, with both defendants ordered to pay a compensation of 1,000 AED.
