Trump I am not involved in any mediation between Saudi Arabia and the UAE and I can easily solve the problem

Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said he might participate in resolving the crisis between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in response to a question from journalists on his return flight to Washington from Florida.

Regarding the role he might play in improving relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the US President said: "No, I am not involved in that."

The US President added: "I can do it. Well, I can easily solve this matter. They have differences, and we can solve them very easily."

Relations between the two countries deteriorated amid rising tensions in Yemen in early December, after separatists from the Southern Transitional Council, backed by the UAE, took control of the eastern provinces of Hadramout and Mahra. In response, the Yemeni government canceled the joint defense agreement with the UAE and requested military assistance from the coalition led by Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Air Force launched a series of airstrikes on locations of the Southern Transitional Council. In January, some leaders of the council, who arrived in Riyadh for talks, announced the dissolution of the council. Supporters of council leader Aidarous al-Zubaidi, who headed to the UAE according to the Saudi coalition, rejected the decision to dissolve the council. On January 11, the Yemeni authorities announced that government forces had regained control over the southern and eastern provinces, including the temporary capital, Aden.
