Khaberni - In a step aimed at protecting the privacy of needy families, the Governor of Oran Province, Ibrahim Ouchan, issued strict instructions to municipal presidents to completely ban the filming of the distribution process of "Ramadan basket" aid.
According to local newspapers, this decision ensures that aid is provided in a respectful manner, away from the media spectacle that might cause embarrassment or negative psychological effects on the beneficiaries.
The governor emphasized the necessity of caring for the homeless and providing daily meals for them throughout the holy month, affirming that real social solidarity lies in maintaining the dignity of citizens.
The provincial report indicated that the disbursement of the solidarity grant to approximately 65,564 beneficiaries has been completed since February 9. Commercially, 10 local markets have been allocated to ensure the supply of widely-consumed goods, with strict monitoring of prices and combating food wastage.
In health and service aspects, the Directorate of Social Activities revealed monitoring 62 restaurants offering Iftar meals to date in order to ensure meal safety, paralleled with intensifying cleanliness programs and providing potable water to residents.
The decision was widely welcomed by social specialists, who considered it a necessary step to protect children and the elderly from feelings of inferiority, and to reorganize solidarity work to focus on actual support rather than formal displays.
