The Central Bank Banks are obliged to accept digital IDs and citizens have the freedom of choice

Khaberni  - The Executive Director of the Payment Supervision Department at the Central Bank, Ghassan Abu Shahab, confirmed on Monday that all banks with their various branches are obliged to accept the digital ID through the "Sanad" application for conducting all banking transactions.

Abu Shahab said that the bank employee verifies the digital ID by scanning the QR Code attached to the digital document through the "Sanad" application, adopting it and the updated government data instead of the photocopies of the personal ID.

He added that citizens are given the choice of using the digital ID or the traditional ID to complete banking transactions.

The Central Bank of Jordan announced the adoption of the digital ID through the "Sanad" application in all banks operating in the kingdom as an official and approved means for verifying customer identities, serving as an equivalent alternative to the traditional personal ID when executing transactions and banking services, as part of the Central Bank's efforts to enhance digital transformation and develop financial services infrastructure.

This achievement is part of the efforts of the Central Bank of Jordan aimed at automating and digitalizing banking operations, which contributes to enhancing operational efficiency, simplifying procedures, and improving customer experience, along with raising levels of security and reliability in identity verification using the latest approved digital technologies.

The Central Bank noted that the adoption of the digital ID allows customers to complete their banking transactions easily and securely by presenting the digital ID through the "Sanad" application without the need to present the traditional personal ID, through safe and approved electronic verification mechanisms that ensure data safety and protection.
