Calls for Expanding Youth Employment and Empowerment Programs in Ajloun

Khaberni - Stakeholders in Ajloun Governorate have called for expanding youth employment and empowerment programs in light of the growing challenges in securing suitable job opportunities, a situation that calls for the adoption of more effective policies focusing on vocational and technical training, and promoting freelance work culture, to contribute to reducing unemployment rates and achieving sustainable economic development in the governorate.

A number of young people have emphasized that the gap between educational outputs and labor market needs still poses a major obstacle to their integration into professional life, stressing the importance of developing quality training programs that focus on practical skills and provide real work experiences in workplaces.

Youth Hashem Shawiyat mentioned that many graduates lack practical experience, which reduces their chances of obtaining jobs, calling for enhanced field training within institutions and linking training programs to actual market needs.

Young woman Rua Zaitoun noted that the current stage requires redirecting youth toward technical and craft professions and enhancing the culture of freelance work and entrepreneurship due to their central role in addressing the problems of unemployment and poverty and achieving sustainable local development.

She added that rapid changes in the labor market require youth to acquire technical and practical skills, especially in the productive and service sectors, which are experiencing increasing demand for skilled labor.

Young man Mahmoud Shreideh stated that relying on traditional jobs, especially governmental ones, is no longer a practical option in light of limited opportunities, necessitating raising awareness of the importance of craft and technical professions that provide rewarding income opportunities and prospects for professional development and financial independence.

The Chairman of the Ajloun Governorate Council, Engineer Muawiyah Anab, stated that the council prioritizes the youth and employment sectors, through supporting training and qualification projects and allocating budgets for developmental initiatives that aim to empower youth and create new job opportunities.

The Director of the Vocational Training Institute in Ajloun, Engineer Mu'tasim Al-Qudah, indicated that the institute offers specialized training programs in professional and technical fields demanded in the labor market, urging youth to engage in vocational training as a strategic option that opens broad prospects for sustainable employment.

He pointed out that the current stage requires focusing on building practical and technical skills among youth, enhancing their ability to compete in the labor market and noted that the directorate implements training and qualification programs targeting job seekers and provides them with real opportunities for employment or involvement in private productive projects.
