Khaberni - The New York Times reported on Friday that the American aircraft carrier "USS Gerald Ford" and its strike group, currently positioned in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela, are heading towards the Middle East to join the "USS Abraham Lincoln" aircraft carrier as part of the pressure campaign President Donald Trump is waging against Iran.
According to the report, citing four U.S. officials, the U.S. Navy personnel were ordered to head to the Middle East overnight and their return to the United States is not expected before late April or early May.
Trump confirmed yesterday his intention to send an additional aircraft carrier to the region, but initially, the "USS George W. Bush" aircraft carrier was mentioned.
