Khaberni - The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat launched the "National Zakat Platform," which is the approved official channel for receiving and managing Zakat funds in the UAE from individuals and companies, securely and according to Islamic legal requirements.
Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, head of the Authority, stated that Zakat affairs are a great trust and responsibility towards the nation and community, the givers of Zakat and its recipients alike; thus the principle "If the obligation is filled with certainty, it is not absolved but with certainty"; and today, certainty is only through institutionalization, governance, transparency, data, and statistics, under the sovereignty of legislation and laws. The purpose of launching this platform is not merely about collecting Zakat funds or encouraging people to perform it, but it's all about accurately obtaining numbers, tightening data logic, controlling Zakat statistics, knowing where these funds are directed, guiding them to their rightful recipients, and the absolute certainty that these funds will not fall into the hands of extremists or terrorists, so their destructive ideas do not feed on them, confirming that unless we monitor the resources and expenditures of Zakat accurately, we will remain in a course shrouded in obscurity.
Al Darei affirmed that this platform - as they say - is the first rain, and the first step in a sustainable journey of comprehensive digital transformation; the doors are still open and it is the duty of the time to harness technology to facilitate this duty and simplify its steps, making the performance of this duty friendly to the Zakat giver, precise in execution, keeping pace with the nation's progress, achieving acquittal of responsibility with the highest standards of global quality.
He pointed out that the factor of partnership and cooperation with partners is the main pillar in unifying efforts, integrating visions, and making this platform successful; and that the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat - represented by the Zakat Fund - extends its profound thanks and great gratitude to the Ministry of Community Development for its pioneering role in overseeing the organization of charitable foundations, whose efforts are appreciated and cooperation valued. He also expressed pride in what the Emirates Fatwa Council offers; of diligent efforts and solid Sharia opinions, which have contributed to the flexibility and facilitation of performing this duty.
