Apple Tests New Technologies Anticipated Improvements in iPhone 18 Pro Camera

Khaberni - Recent technical reports reveal that Apple is testing new sensors and technologies that could significantly enhance the imaging capabilities on its upcoming devices.

According to the latest leaks, the company is currently testing major improvements in the rear camera system for the anticipated iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are expected to be launched next fall.

The information suggests that the anticipated improvements may focus on developing image quality in low-light conditions, enhancing zoom capabilities and image processing, which would bolster Apple's position among the leading smartphones in the photography field.

Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone series alongside the company's first foldable phone, a move that could represent a significant shift in its tech strategy in the upcoming period.

Variable aperture lens
One of the most significant potential changes is the adoption of a main camera with a variable aperture in the iPhone 18 Pro models. This feature has not been seen before in iPhones and represents a big step toward improving image control.

The variable aperture allows the camera to adjust the amount of light entering the sensor, which means an improvement in low-light photography and a reduction in overexposure in strong lighting, besides enhancing control of the Depth of Field which helps to better highlight the subject while blurring the background.

Improvements in Telephoto Camera
In addition to the main camera, reports suggest that Apple is testing a Telephoto lens with a larger aperture than those found in the current iPhone 17 Pro series, which have an aperture of F/2.8 and a 48-megapixel sensor.

But the larger aperture allows more light to enter the sensor, which leads to improved images in low-light conditions and overall better camera performance in terms of reducing noise and speeding up Shutter Speed, as well as enhancing background isolation in photos.

This upgrade might also help improve image zoom quality, especially if paired with additional technologies such as a Teleconverter, as some rumors have suggested.

Additional benefits
If these upgrades are realized, it will be an important step in the smartphone photography race, highlighting greater capabilities in light control, depth of field, and low-light camera performance, all of which are prominent requirements among premium smartphone users today.

It should be noted that Apple has not officially announced the iPhone 18 Pro yet, but previous leaks have suggested that the company might launch the iPhone 18 series in the fall of 2026, based on a series of improvements in design and performance.
