Poultry Investors Available Quantities Exceed Consumption Needs During Ramadan

Khaberni - Abdul Shakoor Jamjoom, head of the Poultry and Feed Investors Association, said that poultry prices have not witnessed any real or justified rise in the local markets, confirming that the quantities available in the farms exceed the consumption needs during the holy month of Ramadan.

Jamjoom explained on Al-Mamlaka channel, on Saturday evening, that poultry prices, over the past six months, have been below operational costs, causing significant losses to farmers. He noted that any recent minor changes are due to a temporary gap in the quantities offered in the market for only one or two days, which reflected in a limited price increase that does not exceed several piasters.

He affirmed that poultry is a commodity subject to supply and demand mechanisms, and no entity can control its prices individually, pointing out that having enough production will restore prices to their normal levels serving the citizens' interest.

Jamjoom urged citizens not to rush to buy or store, explaining that poultry is available throughout the holy month of Ramadan, whether slaughtered or live, and that excessive purchasing before the actual need contributes to temporary market pressure.

He emphasized that the association monitors market movements on a daily basis, expecting price stabilization in the upcoming period.
