Standards and Metrology 718 Legal Actions Against Violators

Khaberni - The Standards and Metrology Organization announced that it undertook 718 legal actions last year, involving warning decisions, referrals to the public prosecutor, closures, destructions, sales bans, and withdrawal of products from markets due to their non-compliance with technical rules/standard specifications. 

The organization added in a statement that it dealt with more than 203,000 customs declarations, conducted approximately 124,000 inspections in its laboratories, in addition to handling 102,868 kg of gold and silver jewelry and ingots.
The organization also mentioned carrying out inspection and monitoring tours that covered 9,670 economic establishments across various provinces and districts of the kingdom, aimed at ensuring the safety and compliance of products under its supervision, reaffirming its continued commitment to enhancing product quality and ensuring that economic establishments comply with technical rules and standard specifications. 
In this regard, the organization issued 227 technical rules and Jordanian standard specifications, while 154 products and facilities obtained the Jordanian Quality Mark, and 93 products received the Halal Mark, as part of its efforts to enhance the quality of Jordanian products and protect consumers.
The organization confirmed that these achievements represent a continuation of its efforts aimed at enhancing a fair and safe economic environment, protecting the health and safety of consumers through a combination of awareness, field monitoring, and strict law enforcement.
The organization seeks to continue developing its technical and supervisory system, enhancing partnership with regulatory bodies and the private sector, to ensure the competitiveness of the Jordanian product locally and internationally, according to the highest standards of quality and safety.
