Traders refused to circulate 5-dinar banknotes considering them counterfeit, although they passed the currency safety detection devices.
According to what citizens told Khaberni, traders refused to accept 5-dinar notes without a convincing explanation.
Those who complained compared two 5-dinar notes; on the one refused by traders, the signature of the governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Adel Sharkas, and the Minister of Finance, Abdul Hakim Al Shibli were displayed, while the older circulating note bears the signature of former Central Bank governor Dr. Ziad Fariz and the then Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ississ.
