Did the Simpsons predict the Epstein Island

Khaberni - Social media users have recirculated a scene from the famous cartoon series "The Simpsons," after noticing a strange resemblance between one of its dialogues and the case of the late American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

In an episode from the twelfth season titled "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes" aired in 2000, long before the scandal was publicly revealed, a creepy scene emerges that reminds viewers today of Epstein's notorious island, the private island linked to the child sexual exploitation scandal.

In this episode, written by John Swartzwelder and directed by Mark Kirkland, the main character "Homer Simpson" creates a website to spread rumors and fake news under a pseudonym "Mr. X". Among the many conspiracy theories he promotes, a pop-up message on his site says: "Alert: Some crazy loners on an island are secretly running the world".

Many followers interpreted this mysterious phrase, especially after the spread of Epstein's case, as an unmistakable nod to that remote island in the US Virgin Islands that the convicted millionaire owned.

The matter didn't stop at this strange "prediction", but social media users, especially on platforms like Reddit and "X", rushed to share their feelings between amazement and suspicion. Some asked: "Did Simpson predict the matter or was he aware of it?", while others thought the episode "eerily matches" the facts that emerged later.

But this interpretation was met with skepticism and curiosity, when some remembered that the creator of the legendary series himself, "Matt Groening", was mentioned among the passenger lists of one of Epstein's private planes, prompting some to comment sarcastically: "It wasn’t a prediction… he was there".

This doubt deepened alarmingly with the release of judicial documents declassified in August 2019, as part of a lawsuit filed by "Virginia Roberts" (one of the women who announced they were victims of Epstein, now known as Giuffre) against Epstein and his company "Ghislaine Maxwell". In her memoirs found among thousands of pages of records, Roberts described in shocking detail her encounter with Groening aboard Epstein's private plane. According to her account, which Groening or his representatives did not respond to when it was widely published, Epstein asked her to massage Groening's feet during a short trip. She described his feet as having "yellow hardened nails" and remnants of socks stuck between his sweaty toes; it was disgusting to the extent she almost vomited.

However, the narrative wasn't completely negative, as Roberts mentioned that she initially enjoyed a conversation with Groening about the origins of his beloved series characters, and at the end of the trip he rewarded her with two signed sketches of the characters "Homer" and "Bart," with a personal dedication to her family, which ultimately made her forget the incident and describe the meeting as "a pleasure.".

It should be noted that linking the cartoon scene to Epstein Island remains within the realm of speculation and personal interpretation by the viewers, and the presence of Groening's name in the documents does not imply his involvement in any illegal activity. However, these coincidences have revived the discussion on how the public interprets artistic works in light of subsequent horrific events.
