Khaberni - MP Adnan Moshoqah directed a handful of embarrassing questions to Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan regarding the accumulation of debt at public universities, its causes, and how to address it.
Please direct the following to the Prime Minister:
1. What are the administrative and financial reasons that led to the accumulation of debt for seven public universities, namely the University of Jordan, Yarmouk, Al al-Bayt, Tafila Technical, Al-Balqa Applied, Al-Hussein bin Talal, and Mutah, and what is the total debt of these universities? What are the most important decisions, programs, Khaberni, and projects that the aforementioned universities have taken and led to the occurrence of debt? For each university, I request a comprehensive statement showing these decisions, programs, and projects for each university.
2. What are the administrative and legal measures taken by the government against those responsible for mismanagement of these universities, whether the fault lies with the presidency of the university Khaberni or the deans' council or the staff of each university?
3. How will the government address the debt of these universities, and is there a plan from the government? I request to be provided with it if it exists.
4. What practical measures has the government and the universities taken to implement the recommendations of the Audit Bureau regarding controlling operational expenses, stopping unconsidered expansion in programs and appointments, addressing administrative and functional bloat, and whether an independent financial and administrative audit has been conducted for the universities with the highest debt and what were the main results? I request to be provided with these if available.
