Death of the playwright Abdulaziz AlSari after days of revoking his Kuwaiti citizenship

Khaberni - Days after his Kuwaiti citizenship was revoked, on the Saturday morning, the Kuwaiti playwright Abdulaziz Al-Sari passed away at the age of 87, leaving behind a long cultural and creative career in the field of song and Kuwaiti theater.

This sad news coincides with the controversy surrounding the case of revoking the citizenship of the deceased, by a decree issued on the 25th of this month, considering him among a group of important names in Kuwaiti art that left a significant historical impact contributing to the consolidation of Kuwait's cultural identity and building its artistic memory in past years.

The playwright received several awards and honors during his artistic career, the first of which was the Playwriting Award for the play "He Has a Degree" in 1965, in addition to being named Honorary President of the Arab Gulf Theater in 1992, among other honors.

Literary figure Abdulaziz Al-Sari is one of the cultural pillars in Kuwait, born in 1939, he was one of the founders of the Arab Gulf Theater troupe and made a significant impact in the theatrical movement with notable works, including the play "The Rooster is Lost" and the series "The Broken Jug," along with several short story collections. He held multiple cultural and media positions, was honored locally and Arab-wide, and was elected as the Honorary President of the Arab Gulf Theater.
