Khaberni - Ali Larijani, Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council in Iran, said on Saturday that work is underway to set up a framework for negotiations with the United States.
Larijani wrote in a post on the X platform, "Contrary to the atmosphere created by the artificial media war, the construction of a structure for negotiations is underway," without providing further details.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed on Friday his belief that Iran wants to strike a deal with Washington that would avoid the military strike he threatened, noting that he has given Tehran a timeline, unspecified, to respond to his proposals.
The "Wall Street Journal" noted that U.S. President Donald Trump will be compelled to make a decisive decision towards the formidable military force the United States has amassed in the Middle East, within range to strike Iran.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, "I can say that they want to make a deal."
In response to a question about whether he gave Iran a specific deadline, Trump replied "Yes, I did," adding that Tehran is "the only one that knows" this deadline.
Trump also confirmed in his remarks, that the fleet heading to Iran is bigger than the one that went to Venezuela.
