North Korea Launches Projectile Toward Sea of Japan

Khaberni - The South Korean military announced that North Korea launched a "projectile" toward the Sea of Japan on Tuesday.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense also reported via X, spotting what appears to be a ballistic missile from North Korea.

This is the second test conducted by Pyongyang since the beginning of the year, following the launch of several missiles on January 4, hours after South Korean President Lee Jae-myung left for China to attend a summit, and a day after the United States carried out an operation in Caracas during which President Nicolas Maduro was arrested, a scenario Pyongyang fears Washington might duplicate to arrest its officials.

North Korea has escalated its missile tests in recent years, with analysts suggesting that this aims to enhance its precision strike capabilities and challenge the United States and South Korea while testing weapons in preparation possibly for exporting them to Russia.

In the coming weeks, Pyongyang will hold a conference for the ruling Worker's Party, the first in five years.

In preparation for this important meeting, leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the "expansion" and modernization of missile production in the country.
