Khaberni - White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt, who stirred controversy with statements described as a "prediction" of a shooting, complained that she is giving birth to her child for the second time during an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Levitt said in a press briefing: "Of course, it’s a crazy coincidence, the two children and the two assassination attempts on the president."
She pointed out that last Friday she announced she would be going on maternity leave, but decided to return to the pressroom due to the assassination attempt on Trump that occurred on Saturday during the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Levitt had given birth to her first child on July 10, 2024, and just three days later, on July 13, the first assassination attempt occurred when Trump literally dodged a bullet at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The scenario is now repeating itself: Days after announcing her readiness to deliver her second child, a new assassination attempt targeting President Trump occurred, causing the spokesperson to shuttle between the delivery room and the briefing room.
On Saturday evening, gunshots rang out at the Washington Hilton hotel in the U.S. capital, where the annual official dinner for White House correspondents and members of the American administration was being held. All attendees, including Trump and his wife Melania, were evacuated, and the suspect in the shooting was quickly apprehended, with one Secret Service agent injured.
The suspect in the shooting is Cole Thomas Allen, 31, from California. According to media, he was a teacher and developed computer shooting games. Allen had no prior convictions and was not known to Washington police.
Shortly before the incident, Levitt said in a television interview, speaking metaphorically about the president's upcoming speech: "Gunshots will be heard," referring to the strength and content of the speech. However, what she said metaphorically was realized as a bizarre prediction that mirrored the literal event that followed her statements.
Charges were filed against Cole Allen on Monday, including an attempt to assassinate the president, which could result in life imprisonment. He also faces other charges related to assaulting a federal officer and firing a gun.
Levitt did not comment on the connection between her metaphorical statements and the actual incident, only speaking about the "crazy coincidence" that linked her two births with the two assassination attempts on the president she serves in his administration.
