Apple Prepares to Fix Major Flaws of iPhone Air in the Second Generation

Khaberni - Apple is addressing one of the most prominent criticisms of the iPhone Air, revealed last year, specifically its lack of multiple cameras despite its high starting price of $999, according to a new leak.
Additional Camera in iPhone Air 2

According to the leak, Apple plans to add an Ultra-Wide camera to the anticipated iPhone Air 2 this year.

The first generation of the phone only had a single rear camera, likely due to space constraints caused by its very slim design.
This compromise did not go unnoticed by users, as many considered that a phone at this price should not offer limited photography capabilities, along with a shorter battery life due to lower capacity, according to a report published by "phonearena" and reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".

Despite the sleek design and ease of use, these sacrifices negatively affected the purchasing decision for a significant segment of consumers.

Reports indicate that the iPhone Air, along with its direct competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, did not achieve sales that met the expectations of both companies.
Thinner Face ID to Save the Design

The same leak revealed that Apple has tasked one of its suppliers to develop thinner Face ID components, allowing the additional camera to be integrated without compromising the phone's thinness.

According to sources, this new design may not only be used for iPhones but could potentially extend to future MacBook devices if Apple decides to introduce Face ID to its laptops.

In the same context, it is said that Apple's anticipated foldable phone will abandon Face ID in favor of Touch ID due to space constraints, making the development of a thinner version of Face ID a likely solution for upcoming generations of this category.
Will iPhone Air Finally Succeed?

Despite repeated criticisms of ultra-thin phones, observers believe this category has a real market, but the problem lies in the execution.

According to analysts, both Apple and Samsung are still hesitant to adopt silicon-carbon batteries that could solve the capacity issue without affecting thickness.

If Apple succeeds in maintaining the thinness of iPhone Air 2 while improving camera capabilities and battery life, the phone could become a successful category akin to MacBook Air, which seems to have inspired Apple to replace the iPhone Plus series with the new Air phone.
