Khaberni - The parliamentary bloc of the Initiative Party recommends the necessity to increase low pensions, to secure social justice and ensure a decent life for retirees.
The parliamentary bloc of the Initiative Party, led by Congressman Ahmad Al-Hamisat, held a meeting specifically to discuss the actuarial study of the General Institution for Social Security, attended by the president of the Economic and Social Council and several members of the parliamentary bloc.
This took place during the meeting held by the bloc on Sunday, to follow up on the repercussions of the actuarial study and its reflections on the social security system, where opinions and observations of the attendees were heard regarding the main challenges facing subscribers and retirees.
The bloc emphasized the necessity of finding a gradual and fair mechanism to calculate early retirement subscriptions, taking into account social and economic dimensions, and achieving a balance between the sustainability of the insurance fund and the protection of workers' rights.
The bloc also recommended amending item (2) of Article (100) from the Human Resources Management System number (33) for the year 2024, to establish clear and fair foundations for referring an employee covered by the social security law to early retirement, especially in cases done without an employee’s request.
The bloc stressed against raising the age of retirement for the elderly, asserting that any adjustment in this direction would negatively reflect on wide categories of workers and is not aligned with the current economic and social reality.
The bloc called for improving the efficiency of using funds in the Social Security Investment Fund, to ensure maximizing investment returns and protecting the funds of subscribers and retirees.
The bloc also confirmed its rejection of increasing the deductions on subscribers, as this would impose an additional burden on workers amid difficult living conditions.
