Khaberni - Mazen Al-Qadi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, affirmed that women are fundamental partners in achieving economic development and play an active role in enhancing various sectors.
Al-Qadi's statement came during his chairing part of the meetings of the Parliamentary Committee on Labor, Social Development and Population Affairs today, Tuesday, with female representatives from the women's sector, which is part of a series of meetings to discuss the draft law amending the Social Security Law of 2026.
Al-Qadi explained that economically empowering women contributes to increasing growth rates and achieving social stability, pointing to the need for providing a fair legislative environment that supports their participation in the labor market and secures their rights under the social security umbrella.
He mentioned that the development of legislation regulating women's work, including the Social Security Law, reflects the national orientations aimed at enhancing justice and equality as well as enabling women to play their effective role as true partners in the comprehensive development process.
Al-Qadi pointed out the importance of women’s participation in in-depth dialogues to reach a studied reform that protects the affiliates and ensures the financial sustainability of social security, indicating the social contract between social security and the affiliates to achieve an equation that protects the rights of all parties involved.
He continued that through discussions, the House of Representatives aims to protect low-income earners, retirees, and affiliates from the economic effects that will befall them while preserving the rights of future generations.
Al-Qadi concluded his talk by continuing the meetings with all parties, entities, and factions, listening to their opinions, and reaching a common goal.
