Kuwait withdraws citizenship from 65 individuals and from those who acquired it

Khaberni - The official Kuwaiti newspaper, today, Sunday, reported the issuance of four decrees and a decision from the Cabinet, stipulating the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship from 65 individuals, in addition to those who acquired it by dependency.

According to the details, Decree number (4) for the year 2026 stipulated the withdrawal of citizenship from 54 individuals, while Decree number (5) for the year 2026 prescribed its withdrawal from one individual.

In the same matter, Decree number (6) for the year 2026 included the withdrawal of citizenship from two individuals, alongside Decree number (7) for the year 2026 which also stipulated its withdrawal from another two individuals.

In a related context, the decision of the Cabinet, number (1768) for the year 2025, prescribed the withdrawal of citizenship from six individuals, in addition to those who acquired it with them by dependency.

For more than a year, Kuwait has initiated a comprehensive campaign to rectify citizenship statuses, during which thousands of citizenships were withdrawn, based on criteria related to duplicity, forgery, and also the supreme interests of the country.

It is worth noting that the citizenship issue is considered one of the sensitive issues that affect the legal and humanitarian dimensions in Kuwait, where recent periods have seen a noticeable increase in decisions related to the withdrawal of citizenship.
