Khaberni - After months of suspended services last March due to Iranian attacks, the US Embassy in Kuwait resumed operations on Wednesday, during a visit by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
A State Department spokesperson stated that the embassy located in Kuwait City will immediately resume its emergency services for Americans, with other services to be gradually resumed.
The US State Department had closed its embassies in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia last March, after Iran launched treacherous drone attacks on them following US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.
Rubio attended the American flag-raising ceremony at the embassy on Wednesday during his visit to Kuwait to discuss with allies ending the war with Iran.
He mentioned in a social media post after the ceremony: «The American flag, a symbol of unity and freedom, is now proudly flying again above Kuwait City. Kuwait is an indispensable partner for the security and stability of the region».
The US State Department had announced on March 5th, the suspension of operations at the US Embassy in Kuwait City.
The permanent representative of Kuwait to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen, renewed during his speech at the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council, Kuwait's strong condemnation and denunciation of the ongoing treacherous Iranian attacks, the most recent of which occurred a few days ago with a direct targeting of 24 drones.
He explained that the total detected heading towards Kuwaiti territory since the start of the sinful Iranian aggression on February 29th, amounted to approximately 893 drones, 379 ballistic missiles, and 15 cruise missiles.
