Khaberni - Al-Ramtha team blocked the way for Al-Faisaly, achieving an important 2-1 victory over Shabab Al-Ordon in a match held on Saturday at Al-Hassan Stadium in Irbid in the 11th round of the Jordanian League Championship.
The "Northern Gazelles" team nearly lost their lead after retreating in the second half, but their young talent, Momen Al-Saket, succeeded in scoring the precious winning goal that earned them 3 important points in the competition for the title.
With this victory, the "Northern Gazelles" have blocked the path for Al-Faisaly to widen the lead, tightening the noose on them and maintaining only a one-point gap that favors the latter, before they face each other later this current week at the summit of the 12th round of the Jordanian League Championship.
Al-Faisaly had achieved a valuable 2-1 victory over Al-Salt yesterday, Friday, to stay at the top of the standings with 28 points, while Al-Ramtha remained second with 27 points, followed by Al-Hussein Irbid with 24 points.
Al-Saket Saves Al-Ramtha Before Facing Al-Faisaly
Expectations indicated that Al-Ramtha's task would be easy, but they faced difficulties that almost dashed their hopes of snatching three important points before meeting the leader Al-Faisaly at the end of the current week.
The "Northern Gazelles" team took the lead through their returning star Majd Al-Za'bi, who capitalized on a rebound off the crossbar to powerfully shoot it into the goal of Ahmed Al-Ja'idi, the goalkeeper of Shabab Al-Ordon, in the 18th minute.
The "Northern Gazelles" maintained their lead at the end of the first half, but the situation changed in the second half, and Shabab Al-Ordon became more aggressive offensively. They managed to equalize through their striker, Abdullah Al-Attar, who had returned to the club from Al-Hussein during the current winter transfer period. He followed a cross and headed it into the net of Malek Shalabiya in the 67th minute.
The "Northern Gazelles" found themselves in a precarious situation as the draw would negatively affect the team's morale before facing Al-Faisaly. Despite the changes made by the coach, the offensive solutions were not effective. However, the young talent and star of the Jordanian U-23 national team, Momen Al-Saket, was on time. He executed a direct free kick brilliantly into the "90" corner of Shabab Al-Ordon's goal in the 83rd minute to gift the precious winning points to the "Northern Gazelles."
