Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said the United States expects to get full access to Greenland at no cost, indicating that Washington will get everything it wants.
Trump said in an interview with "Fox Business", referring to the US administration's negotiations on Greenland, "We will get everything we need. We will get everything we want, at no cost."
He added, "We will get (under the future deal with Greenland) everything we want: full security and full access to everything. We will have all the bases and equipment we want."
The US president previously stated in Davos that he cannot imagine a scenario where the United States would enter a war with Denmark, a NATO member, over Greenland. He indicated that a long-term agreement concerning Greenland is currently under discussion, describing its duration as "eternal".
The US President also confirmed that the tariffs he had threatened to impose starting February 1 against European countries opposing his demands for control over Greenland will not be activated.
It is important to note that Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. In 1951, Washington and Copenhagen signed a special defense agreement for Greenland, alongside their NATO commitments, under which the United States pledged to defend the island in case of any military threat.
