Mutual Escalation Casualties in Ukraine and Strikes Hit Deep in Russia

Khaberni - Ukrainian officials confirmed today, Sunday, the deaths of 3 people and injuries to at least 4 others in Russian strikes targeting several areas in Ukraine.

This comes with the ongoing war between the two countries, as Moscow deploys hundreds of drones towards its neighbor on a persistent basis since the beginning of the war in February 2022, while Kyiv targets Russian military and energy facilities.

Ukrainian losses
According to Oleh Syehubov, the head of the regional military administration in Sumy, a Russian drone attack killed two civilians in the Sumy border region in northeastern Ukraine.

In a post on Telegram, he reported that "the enemy hit civilians in the city of Bilopillia, less than 5 kilometers from the border with the Russian Federation," noting that two men aged 48 and 72 were killed.

In the meantime, one person was killed and 4 were injured due to drone attacks and artillery fire in the city of Dnipro (central east) along with damage to homes and vehicles, according to Oleksandr Hanha, an official of the military administration in the region.

Earlier today, Sunday, the governor of Sevastopol in the Crimea Peninsula, Mikhail Razvozhayev, reported that a man died in a car when a Ukrainian drone attack caused damage to homes and a dance school in various districts of the city.

The source reported that Russia downed 43 drones during the attack.

Yesterday, Saturday, Ukrainian authorities reported the deaths of at least 8 people in Dnipro, which experienced waves of Russian strikes for 20 consecutive hours.

Russian damage
On the other front, Georgy Filimonov, governor of the Russian region of Vologda, confirmed that a fertilizer plant in the region was damaged by a Ukrainian drone attack today, Sunday.

Filimonov mentioned that a high-pressure sulfuric acid pipeline suffered damage at a complex managed by the Apatit company, which is part of Phos Agro, one of the largest producers of phosphate fertilizers in the world.

He said that a leak was contained, and that no hazardous chemical substances were released, adding that 5 people were injured.

Last Monday, Russian authorities reported that oil had leaked into the Black Sea following drone attacks that targeted the Taman Port in Russia, injuring 3 people.

A statement issued by the Krasnodar Region Operations Center accused Ukraine of launching drone attacks on the port, located in the city of Taman, resulting in damage.

Recently, Ukraine intensified its drone attacks on Russian territory, and authorities in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg reported that a Ukrainian drone fell on a residential building in the city, yesterday, Saturday, resulting in minor injuries.
