Jordan Hosts Global Conference on Adherence to Humanitarian Law in Warfare 2026

Khaberni -  Jordan is scheduled to host a high-level conference on humanitarian action in wars in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to a statement issued today, Thursday, from the six founding nations of the Global Initiative to Renew Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law.
His Majesty King Abdullah II and leaders from Brazil, China, France, Kazakhstan, and South Africa, alongside the International Committee of the Red Cross, called on leaders from all countries to unite their efforts during this critical phase, according to the statement.
The leaders emphasized that the world must unite in reaffirming that adherence to the rules of war and international humanitarian law is essential to preserve our shared humanity in conflict situations and that these rules must be respected universally, fairly, and consistently, according to the statement.
Brazil, China, France, Jordan, Kazakhstan, and South Africa, along with the International Committee of the Red Cross, launched the "Global Initiative to Renew Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law" in September 2024, driven by a high sense of responsibility and the urgent necessity to end brutality and human suffering and destruction in wars.
To date, 99 countries from various regions of the world have officially joined this global initiative. Additionally, 27 leading countries are spearheading seven pathways of action to develop practical recommendations to strengthen compliance with international humanitarian law and address challenges emerging from developments in contemporary warfare patterns.
The founding nations of this initiative have invited all countries to join these efforts and work within the framework of shared responsibility to prevent atrocities and protect humanity in times of war.
