The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" stated that the Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim, the 18-year-old player of Al Ahly Egyptian, is close to joining Barcelona during the current winter transfer period.
The newspaper reported that the transfer deal of Hamza Abdel Karim has reached its final stages and only a few minor details remain to complete the loan deal with an option to buy.
Barcelona's offer included obtaining the services of the young player on loan with the right to make a final purchase at the end of the season.
However, Al Ahly's demands included receiving 5 million euros if Hamza Abdel Karim participates with "el Barça" in 5 matches, in addition to another 5 million euros as variables related to the player's level, which caused the negotiations to stumble.
Other well-informed sources on the negotiations confirmed that the deal has not been finalized yet, but they explained that Barcelona and Al Ahly resumed communication in the past few hours to expedite the arrival of the Egyptian striker to the Catalan team.
The young player still needs to obtain a work permit in Spain and a travel visa to Barcelona, and these procedures might take a few additional days, so the announcement of the loan of Hamza Abdel Karim with an option to buy is expected at the end of the month.
