Minister of Transport Chairs a Meeting to Explore the Development of a MultiTransport System in Petra

Khaberni – The Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin, chaired a meeting to explore the possibility of developing a multi-transport services system in the Petra district, attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Fares Abu Diyeh, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Daiyfallah Al-Farajat, and the Chairman of the Petra Region Authority, Fares Briezat, along with related parties. The meeting is part of the efforts aimed at improving the tourist transport system in the region.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of studying the options for multi-modal transport as a pathway supporting tourism, noting the modern transport solutions it can provide to facilitate visitor access and improve their experience, while aligning with the special character of the archaeological site and its preservation needs, as well as its role in enhancing the efficiency of logistics linked to visitor flow and support services.
The meeting discussed the technical and regulatory aspects, safety requirements, alongside proposed operational mechanisms and methods of coordination among the concerned entities, to ensure the provision of specialized future transport services according to the highest approved standards, supporting the logistics and services offered to visitors.
The meeting also explored opportunities for integrating services across multiple transport modes with tourism, logistical and support services related to the system, and reviewed the next steps and the expected timetable for studies and relevant procedures, contributing to the enhancement of the tourist transport services in Petra.
This orientation is part of the efforts aimed at enhancing Petra's status as a global landmark, through the development of an integrated system of multi-transport and logistics, contributing to the improvement of the visitors' experience and adding value to the national economy.
