Jordan Extension of the Siberian High starting from Monday evening

Khaberni - The latest computer map readings in Arab weather indicate that the low-pressure system is moving away from the kingdom during Monday, January 19, 2026, with the formation of dense fog in the morning and the possibility of scattered rain showers in some areas, just before the kingdom is affected by the Siberian high starting from Monday/Tuesday evening accompanied by stable but bitterly cold weather with low temperatures during the night and early morning hours, believed to be the coldest in several months.

Monday 19-1-2026: Cold weather and fog over the mountains with limited chances of rain prior to the extension of the Siberian High at night

The temperatures will remain below the average for this time of the year during Monday, with generally cold weather and dense fog forming in the morning hours over high mountainous elevations, including many thoroughfares, as well as possible scattered showers, and moderate westerly winds.

During the night hours of Monday/Tuesday, the kingdom will be affected by what is called the cold Siberian High, causing the weather to stabilize and cloud amounts to decrease, leading to clear skies in most areas and calm winds, and a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures (recorded just minutes after sunrise) to around zero degrees Celsius in many parts of the kingdom and below zero in regions of the desert and eastern plains.

Therefore, frost formation is expected in wide areas of the kingdom, including agricultural lands, except for the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba areas. It is not unlikely that freezing will occur in parts of the eastern plains and desert, especially during the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Recommendations:

Wear warm clothing, and use heating devices safely.
Protect crops and livestock, especially in desert and plain areas, where temperatures may drop to below zero at night.
Insulate water pipes in the eastern desert and plains areas.
Be aware of the risks of frost formation in many areas or the occurrence of freezing in parts of the plains and desert during the night and early morning hours.
