Khaberni - Royal Jordanian Airlines said it raised ticket prices "in line with global airlines" due to rising fuel prices and changes in flight routes, amid the operational challenges currently faced by the aviation industry in the region, following tensions in the Middle East.
The company explained in statements to "Al Mamlaka," on Wednesday, that global airlines have raised ticket prices by between 100% and 150% or imposed additional fees on them, "including Royal Jordanian," which took this measure to face rising operational costs.
It added that changing flight routes to avoid tension areas has contributed to increasing flight times and operational costs, especially in terms of fuel consumption and insurance costs, which are reflected in ticket prices.
Royal Jordanian also noted that these developments have accompanied a decline in travel demand, placing the company before a "difficult equation" between covering costs and maintaining occupancy rates.
Regarding managing changes in flight routes during the war, Royal Jordanian indicated that it redirected several of its flights through longer alternative routes, resulting in increased flight times and operational costs, especially in terms of fuel consumption and insurance costs.
It clarified that during the tensions, its flights took southern routes and avoided flying west and north, using Egyptian airspace to reach its destinations in Europe and the United States.
It pointed out that each of these flights increases by about half an hour, imposing significant financial burdens on the company.
