Iraq Solving the Mystery of the Dismembered Girls Body in the Garbage Dump

Khaberni - The Iraqi street has been shaken during the past few hours by the impact of a gruesome murder, after security forces found the dismembered body of a girl thrown inside a garbage dump in eastern Baghdad, in a shocking incident that caused a widespread wave of anger and condemnation.

In an official statement, the Rusafa Baghdad Police Command announced today, Sunday, that it has managed to uncover the details of the crime and apprehend its perpetrators in record time, following a report received through the emergency line stating the discovery of an unidentified girl’s body brutally disposed of in one of the areas.

The statement explained that the police immediately began search and investigation procedures, which led to suspicion within a family circle close to the victim, and as a result, security forces moved to the Naeiriya area, where the girl's father and brother were arrested after gathering the necessary evidence.

During the preliminary investigations, the accused admitted to committing the crime, claiming that the motive for killing the girl was what is known as "honor killing," which has rekindled societal and legal debate regarding crimes committed under this designation.

In coordination with the security forces on the Karkh side, the accused accompanied the forces to the site of body disposal, where the rest of her parts were found inside a plastic bag and thrown in a garbage dump, to be transported and complete the procedures related to the case.

The police confirmed the arrest of the accused and the taking of legal actions against them
