Khaberni - Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin said on Sunday that the European Union will respond if the US threats to impose tariffs on European allies over Greenland are implemented, but he clarified that it is too early to consider using the bloc's "coercion countermeasure tool".
Martin added: "The pace here has increased very significantly, and very quickly. There is no doubt that Europe will of course respond in the event these tariffs are imposed, and this would lead to a very serious situation globally."
In an interview with the Irish Broadcasting Authority, he mentioned: "It is clear that a dialogue must take place to prevent this... We have not gone into details yet, and I think that 'using the coercion countermeasure tool' is somewhat premature today, but of course, it might be brought to the table."
