Expert If you want to reduce your electricity bill follow these steps

Khaberni - Electrical engineer Omar Shaaban confirmed that using some electrical devices to convert electricity to heat, such as electric heaters “geyser” and heating-specific air conditioning units, draws high energy if not used in a regulated and conscious manner.

Shaaban clarified in his talk via Hayat FM that the electric geyser is one of the devices that drain the electricity bill, so it should be chosen according to the size of the family and actual usage, as a small family would be sufficient with a 30-liter size, while larger families need a bigger size.

He added that the water heating temperature in the geyser usually reaches 80 degrees Celsius, mentioning that setting it at 60 degrees can significantly reduce electricity usage.

He pointed out that turning the geyser on and off frequently leads to a higher electricity draw, as the device operates at maximum effort twice daily when reheating, so it's better to keep the tank running all the time to avoid increased usage.

Shaaban warned against using large electric heaters, stating that electric heaters are the worst economically for converting electrical energy to heat energy, as an electric heater with a capacity of 2500 or 3000 watts operating 10 hours daily can draw about 900 kilowatts per month, which is a very high number on the electricity bill. He added that the optimal solution is to use a small electric heater with a maximum of 1000 watts for morning usage only, to save energy and reduce costs.

Shaaban affirmed that awareness of proper usage of electrical devices and planning for choosing the right size and power for each need contributes to reducing electricity usage and alleviating the pressure on the electrical network.
