Khaberni - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan confirmed on Wednesday that Jordan and Lebanon have signed 21 cooperation agreements covering a wide range of economic and service sectors, including the energy and electrical connection sector, industry and trade exchange, tourism, and transportation, as well as investment.

Hassan said during a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Nawaf Salam in the Lebanese capital Beirut that Jordan and Lebanon are hoping to double the volume of trade cooperation in the coming period, indicating that there are agreements in many service sectors that will be announced soon.

He emphasized that both Jordan and Lebanon have agreed to continue coordination and communication between the ministers and officials of the two countries, as well as between the technical teams, in order to implement what has been agreed upon, while exploring future cooperation aspects that serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

In the context of Jordanian-Lebanese relations, Hassan pointed out that "Jordan holds a special affection for Lebanon, and we are confident that Lebanon is capable of overcoming challenges, rebuilding, and restoring its civilizational role in the region. Jordan will continue, as it always has been, to support Lebanon's security, stability, and sovereignty, steadfastly standing by Lebanon in all circumstances."

He added: "These directives are continuously issued by His Majesty King Abdullah II, who entrusted me with the task of translating the historical relations between the two countries into comprehensive cooperation in all fields."

In strengthening these relations, Hassan noted that there are historical bridges of communication and integration between Jordan and Lebanon in various fields, including the economy and culture, emphasizing that the next phase will witness more institutional cooperation beneficial to both countries.

The meeting of the Jordanian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee in its eighth session in Beirut was another focus of Prime Minister Hassan's talk, where it resumed after more than 10 years of inactivity. He stated, "We will work to ensure the continued operation and development of the committee within the framework of fraternal relations between the two countries."

He praised the "significant and clear efforts" made by the Lebanese government despite the difficult circumstances affecting the region, pointing out the economic achievements and reforms aimed at serving Lebanon and its security and stability.

Regarding regional security, Hassan confirmed that the security and stability of the region are essential for the success of joint cooperation projects between the countries.

Hassan confirmed that Jordan agrees with Lebanon on the necessity of Syria's security and stability, with Jordan striving to enable Syria to take an active role in completing the implementation of previously agreed upon tripartite cooperation projects between Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, especially in the fields of electrical connection and natural gas supply.

He emphasized Jordan's commitment to do everything possible to supply Lebanon with electricity and gas, upon readiness, and during the current year.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, Hassan confirmed that it remains "the most important of Arab issues," discussing Jordan's steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian people and achieving a fair and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, emphasizing the importance of consolidating the Gaza ceasefire agreement and ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip, highlighting the residents’ suffering under harsh humanitarian conditions.

Hassan confirmed that all these efforts and coordination aim to serve the interests of the peoples of both countries, indicating that future cooperation between Jordan and Lebanon will be pivotal in facing challenges and enhancing regional stability.
